<dd><p>Applications may register for notification of events by appending a
callable to the <tt class="docutils literal"><span class="pre">subscribers</span></tt> list.</p>
<p>Each subscriber takes a single argument, which is the event object
being published.</p>
<p>Exceptions raised by subscribers will be propagated.</p>
